Bonnie sat on the floor of her
room, before her lay her grimore. Open to a certain page, spread in a circle
around her and the book were 4 candles. Each one set to symbolize the elements,
set in the north, south, east, and west. “Et unam, et adorabunt me. Me
elegistis et perficere circulum.” She spoke in a commanding voice. Repeating
the words over and over, each time gaining in volume; soon the candle‘s glow
grew in strength; lighting the small space as if the sun itself shone in the
room.
A moment passed like that, heat
emanating from the candle’s lightening Bonnie’s caramel features with an almost
iridescent glow. Soon her chanting
stopped, her eyes deepening with an obsidian cloud that took over her entire iris.
Her lips set with determination as the fire around her once again grew with
intensity.
A knock announced Damon’s presence
and Bonnie’s head snapped to the door of her room, instantly the flame tapered
before going out completely. Leaving Bonnie in a dark room, smoke rising around
her from the candles that had been snuffed out by the interruption; with a
frustrated sigh she thrust herself away from the floor and toward the sound
that grew louder as she made her way through the house.
She turned the handle and threw the
door open, her expression darkened at the sight of who had intruded upon her
ritual. “I should have known,” she spoke in a low irritated tone. “What do you
want?” Damon stepped over the threshold with no warning. “Evening, witchy,”
faced his head toward the stairs sniffing the air. The faint scent of burning
candles wafting through the air toward him, “Burning something?”
“Not that it’s any of your
business.” She started as he turned back to meet her chestnut irises that just
now seemed almost black to him. “It was a protection spell.” She lied; he knew
it because as she spoke her heart jumped. He glanced away from him, “What sort
of protection?” he inquired. “Something for Elena…” he was surprised to say the
least, his sapphire optics flicking back to her. “She’s a vampire now.” He
snapped. Bonnie nodded, “I’m aware of that, but if Rebekah figures that out she
might still be in danger.”
Damon took a step further into her
house, perturbed by the subject at hand, though a lie on her part, it still
bothered him. “She’s long gone by now, though I’m sure Elena appreciates your
help.” He turns toward her, Bonnie flinched under his stare. She wasn’t sure
why she lied, she wasn’t even sure why she was doing the spell that she was
doing. It’s as if lately something else was controlling her actions.
Damon watched Bonnie closely, he
expression changing under his scrutiny. “Looked I don’t know what you’re doing
here, Bonnie, but the last thing we need around here is a rogue witch.” He
condemned her with his words. Anger lit her features, “Really, is /that/ the
last thing we need around?” inwardly, she cursed herself for what she had done…
Her actions saved him, saved Damon and the rest of the vampires that roamed the
earth feeding on humans.
She clinched her fists together;
knowing that had she not her mother would also be dead. “I don’t think I need a
lecture about what I should and shouldn’t be doing…” She narrowed her deep hues
on him. “Least of all from a murder like you.”
