“I don’t like the sound of that,” Damon said
several minutes after Bonnie had explained the spell to him. It was pretty
straight forward, but, if they did it right things might get complicated really
quick. Bonnie shook her head, glancing back at the book. “It’s the only way,
you’re not a witch so you can’t just see into my mind like another witch could
and I can’t open my own mind without the help of a second witch so this is our
only choice.”
Damon falls back onto her bed,
glancing up at her off white ceiling, his thoughts racing over what was about
to happen. The kink in this spell was
that not only would he go into her mind but she could freely go into his. He
didn’t really have much to hide, everyone knew what he is and what he’d done
but his thoughts were often something he’d rather keep to himself. Something he
wouldn’t share with anyone let alone Bonnie but as she said it seemed to be our
only option.
His gaze flicked to hers, she sat
on the other side of the bed and seemed to be watching as he struggles with his
thoughts. “Fine, what will we need and do you have a way to break the spell?”
She glanced down at the book. “I have most of the things here but there
something we will need for the counter spell.” He nods, sitting up to look at
the words written in the book.
“What’s this,” He points to a
symbol. “It’s a type of stone, onyx.” She explains. “I have one, it was my
grandmothers. We’ll need for the counter spell but for now let’s set up this
one.” She points to the other page. He stands from the bed, moving to her
dresser, he glances over the stuff there. His gaze quickly becoming amused as
he finds something he didn’t expect to find there. He slides a finger under a
thin pair of silk panties picking them up before he turns to her.
“And these are?” he questions, a
light chuckle spilling from his lips as he speaks. “Damon!” Bonnie exclaims,
thrusting herself from the bed and stalking toward him. She pulls the underwear
from his grip, “Can we be serious please?!” She demands. Damon laughs once more,
clinging to his amusement as he turns back to his task. “Hey, I was trying to
be serious; you’re the one who left your unmentionables around.” She huffs,
shoving the small piece of fabric into a drawer.
Deep cerulean irises dance over the
other objects on her dresser, a part of him hoping to find something else he
wasn’t supposed to but instead finds some candles, matches and the other things
they would need for the spell. Bonnie settles into the circle that had been
created a moment ago. Damon joins her after he’s found everything. She goes to
work setting everything up, the candles lit and encircling them now as they
both sit facing each other on the floor; Bonnie pulls in a breath before
picking up an intricately decorated athame. “Are you sure about this?” Damon
inquires, she looks away from the dagger toward him, “It’s the only way.”
Damon nods solemnly, all joking
aside as she slides the sharp edge over her hand. The intoxicating sent of
blood immediately rushes his senses. He had smelled her blood before and each
time it was the same, hitting him like a runaway Mack Truck. He catches his
breath in his throat trying not to inhale the spicy scent of her blood as he
takes the athame from her. “You know this means you’ll have my blood in your
system. You’ll need to be extra careful.” She nods, “I got it.”
He concedes, feeling uneasy about
the whole thing but instead of protesting further he slides the dagger across
the meaty part of his hand. She takes his hand in hers, their blood mixing as
they make contact. We held them over the candle she had placed before us and
she begins the incantation.
